D’varim 29:9-31:30

Rishon [1st]: 29:10You stand this day, all of you, before ADONAI your God; your heads, your tribes, your elders, and your officers, even all the men of Yisra'el, 11your little ones, your wives, and your foreigner who is in the midst of your camps, from the one who cuts your wood to the one who draws your water; 12that you may enter into the covenant of ADONAI your God, and into His oath, which ADONAI your God makes with you this day; 13that He may establish you this day to Himself for a people, and that He may be to you a God, as He spoke to you, and as He swore to your fathers, to Avraham, to Yitzchak, and to Ya`akov.

14Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath, 15but with him who stands here with us this day before ADONAI Eloheinu, and also with him who is not here with us this day 16(for you know how we lived in the land of Egypt, and how we came through the midst of the nations through which you passed; 17and you have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them); 18lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turns away this day from ADONAI Eloheinu, to go to serve the gods of those nations; lest there should be among you a root that bears gall and wormwood; 19and it happen, when he hears the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have shalom, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart, to destroy the moist with the dry. 20ADONAI will not pardon him, but then the anger of ADONAI and his jealousy will smoke against that man, and all the curse that is written in this book shall lie on him, and ADONAI will blot out his name from under the sky. 21ADONAI will set him apart to evil out of all the tribes of Yisra'el, according to all the curses of the covenant that is written in this book of the Torah.

22The generation to come, your children who shall rise up after you, and the foreigner who shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses with which ADONAI has made it sick; 23and that the whole land of it is sulfur, and salt, and a burning, that it is not sown, nor bears, nor any grass grows therein, like the overthrow of Sedom and `Amorah, Admah and Tzevoyim, which ADONAI overthrew in His anger, and in His wrath: 24even all the nations shall say, Why has ADONAI done thus to this land? what means the heat of this great anger? 25Then men shall say, Because they forsook the covenant of ADONAI, the God of their fathers, which He made with them when He brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, 26and went and served other gods, and worshiped them, gods that they didn't know, and that He had not given to them: 27therefore the anger of ADONAI was kindled against this land, to bring on it all the curse that is written in this book; 28and ADONAI rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as at this day.

29The secret things belong to ADONAI Eloheinu; but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this Torah.

Sheni [2nd]: 30:1It shall happen, when all these things are come on you, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before you, and you shall call them to mind among all the nations, where ADONAI your God has driven you, 2and shall return to ADONAI your God, and shall obey His voice according to all that I command you this day, you and your children, with all your heart, and with all your soul; 3that then ADONAI your God will turn your captivity, and have compassion on you, and will return and gather you from all the peoples, where ADONAI your God has scattered you. 4If any of your outcasts are in the uttermost parts of the heavens, from there will ADONAI your God gather you, and from there will He bring you back: 5and ADONAI your God will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it; and He will do you good, and multiply you above your fathers. 6ADONAI your God will circumcise your heart, and the heart of your seed, to love ADONAI your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, that you may live.

Shlishi [3rd]: 7ADONAI your God will put all these curses on your enemies, and on those who hate you, who persecuted you. 8You shall return and obey the voice of ADONAI, and do all His mitzvot which I command you this day. 9ADONAI your God will make you plenteous in all the work of your hand, in the fruit of your body, and in the fruit of your cattle, and in the fruit of your ground, for good: for ADONAI will again rejoice over you for good, as he rejoiced over your fathers.

10If you shall obey the voice of ADONAI your God, to keep his mitzvot and his statutes which are written in this book of the Torah; if you turn to ADONAI your God with all your heart, and with all your soul. 11For this mitzvah which I command you this day, it is not too hard for you, neither is it far off. 12It is not in heaven, that you should say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it to us, and make us to hear it, that we may do it? 13Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it to us, and make us to hear it, that we may do it? 14But the word is very near to you, in your mouth, and in your heart, that you may do it.

R'vi'i [4th]: 15Behold, I have set before you this day life and good, and death and evil; 16in that I command you this day to love ADONAI your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep His mitzvot and his statutes and his ordinances, that you may live and multiply, and that ADONAI your God may bless you in the land where you go in to possess it. 17But if your heart turn away, and you will not hear, but shall be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them; 18I denounce to you this day, that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land, where you pass over the Yarden to go in to possess it.

19I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse: therefore choose life, that you may live, you and your seed; 20to love ADONAI your God, to obey His voice, and to cleave to him; for He is your life, and the length of your days; that you may dwell in the land which ADONAI swore to your fathers, to Avraham, to Yitzchak, and to Ya`akov, to give them.

31:1Moshe went and spoke these words to all Yisra'el. 2He said to them, I am one hundred twenty years old this day; I can no more go out and come in: and ADONAI has said to me, You shall not go over this Yarden. 3ADONAI your God, He will go over before you; He will destroy these nations from before you, and you shall dispossess them: and Yehoshua, he shall go over before you, as ADONAI has spoken. 4ADONAI will do to them as He did to Sichon and to `Og, the kings of the Amori, and to their land; whom he destroyed. 5ADONAI will deliver them up before you, and you shall do to them according to all the mitzvah which I have commanded you. 6Be strong and of good courage, don't be afraid, nor be scared of them: for ADONAI your God, He it is who does go with you; he will not fail you, nor forsake you.

Chamishi [5th]: 7Moshe called to Yehoshua, and said to him in the sight of all Yisra'el, Be strong and of good courage: for you shall go with this people into the land which ADONAI has sworn to their fathers to give them; and you shall cause them to inherit it. 8ADONAI, He it is who does go before you; He will be with you, He will not fail you, neither forsake you: don't be afraid, neither be dismayed.

9Moshe wrote this Torah, and delivered it to the kohanim the sons of Levi, who bore the ark of the covenant of ADONAI, and to all the elders of Yisra'el. 10Moshe commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the set time of the year of release, in the feast of booths, 11when all Yisra'el is come to appear before ADONAI your God in the place which He shall choose, you shall read this Torah before all Yisra'el in their hearing. 12Assemble the people, the men and the women and the little ones, and your foreigner who is within your gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear ADONAI your God, and observe to do all the words of this Torah 13and that their children, who have not known, may hear, and learn to fear ADONAI your God, as long as you live in the land where you go over the Yarden to possess it.

Shishi [6th]: 14ADONAI said to Moshe, Behold, your days approach that you must die: call Yehoshua, and present yourselves in the tent of meeting, that I may give him a charge. Moshe and Yehoshua went, and presented themselves in the tent of meeting. 15ADONAI appeared in the Tent in a pillar of cloud: and the pillar of cloud stood over the door of the Tent. 16ADONAI said to Moshe, Behold, you shall sleep with your fathers; and this people will rise up, and play the prostitute after the strange gods of the land, where they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them. 17Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall come on them; so that they will say in that day, Haven't these evils come on us because our God is not among us? 18I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evil which they shall have worked, in that they are turned to other gods.

19Now therefore write you this song for you, and teach you it the children of Yisra'el: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Yisra'el.

Shvi'i [7th]:
20For when I shall have brought them into the land
   which I swore to their fathers,
flowing with milk and honey,
   and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and grown fat;

then will they turn to other gods, and serve them,
   and despise me, and break my covenant.
21It shall happen, when many evils and troubles are come on them,
   that this song shall testify before them as a witness;
for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed:

for I know their imagination which they frame this day,
   before I have brought them into the land which I swore.

22So Moshe wrote this song the same day, and taught it the children of Yisra'el.

23He gave Yehoshua the son of Nun a charge, and said, Be strong and of good courage; for you shall bring the children of Yisra'el into the land which I swore to them: and I will be with you.

24It happened, when Moshe had made an end of writing the words of this Torah in a book, until they were finished, 25that Moshe commanded the Levites, who bore the ark of the covenant of ADONAI, saying, 26Take this book of the Torah, and put it by the side of the ark of the covenant of ADONAI your God, that it may be there for a witness against you. 27For I know your rebellion, and your stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, you have been rebellious against ADONAI; and how much more after my death?

Maftir [concluding]: 28Assemble to me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to witness against them. 29For I know that after my death you will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will happen to you in the latter days; because you will do that which is evil in the sight of ADONAI, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.

30Moshe spoke in the ears of all the assembly of Yisra'el the words of this song, from beginning to end.

Hazak, hazak, v'nit'chazek!
Be strong, be strong, and let us be strengthened!

Yesha‘yahu 61:10-63:9

61:10I will greatly rejoice in ADONAI,
my soul shall be joyful in my God;
for He has clothed me with the garments of salvation,
He has covered me with the robe of righteousness,
as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland,
and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
11For as the earth brings forth its bud,
and as the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth;
so ADONAI will cause righteousness
and praise to spring forth before all the nations.

62:1For Tziyon's sake will I not hold my shalom,
and for Yerushalayim's sake I will not rest,
until her righteousness go forth as brightness,
and her yeshu`ah as a lamp that burns.
2The nations shall see your righteousness,
and all kings your glory,
and you shall be called by a new name,
which the mouth of ADONAI shall name.
3You shall also be a crown of beauty in the hand of ADONAI,
and a royal diadem in the hand of your God.
4You shall no more be termed Forsaken;
neither shall your land any more be termed Desolate:
but you shall be called Cheftzi-Bah, and your land Beulah;
for ADONAI delights in you, and your land shall be married.
5For as a young man marries a virgin, so shall your sons marry you;
and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you.

6I have set watchmen on your walls, Yerushalayim;
they shall never hold their shalom day nor night:
you who call on ADONAI, take no rest,
7and give Him no rest, until He establish,
and until He make Yerushalayim a praise in the earth.
8ADONAI has sworn by His right hand, and by the arm of His strength,
Surely I will no more give your grain to be food for your enemies;
and foreigners shall not drink your new wine, for which you have labored:
9but those who have garnered it shall eat it, and praise ADONAI;
and those who have gathered it shall drink it in the courts of My sanctuary.

Hoshea (Hosea) 14:1-10

14:1Yisra'el, return to ADONAI your God;
For you have fallen because of your sin.

2Take words with you, and return to ADONAI.
Tell Him, "Forgive all our sins,
And accept that which is good:
So we offer like bulls our lips.

3Ashshur can't save us.
We won't ride on horses;
Neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, 'Our gods!'
For in you the fatherless finds mercy."

4"I will heal their waywardness.
I will love them freely;
For my anger is turned away from him.

5I will be like the dew to Yisra'el.
He will blossom like the lily,
And send down his roots like Levanon.

6His branches will spread,
And his beauty will be like the olive tree,
And his fragrance like Levanon.

7Men will dwell in his shade.
They will revive like the grain,
And blossom like the vine.
Their fragrance will be like the wine of Levanon.

8Efrayim, what have I to do any more with idols?
I answer, and will take care of him.
I am like a green fir tree;
From me your fruit is found."

9Who is wise, that he may understand these things?
Who is prudent, that he may know them?
For the ways of ADONAI are right,
And the righteous walk in them;
But the rebellious stumble in them.

Mikhah (Micah) 7:18-20

7:18Who is a God like you, Who pardons iniquity,
And passes over the disobedience of the remnant of His heritage?

He doesn't retain His anger forever,
Because He delights in loving kindness.

19He will again have compassion on us.
He will tread our iniquities under foot;
And you will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

20You will give truth to Ya`akov,
and mercy to Avraham,
As you have sworn to our fathers from the days of old.

Yo'el (Joel) 2:15-27

2:15Blow the shofar in Tziyon!
Sanctify a fast.
Call a solemn assembly.

16Gather the people.
Sanctify the assembly.
Assemble the elders.
Gather the children, and those who suck the breasts.

Let the bridegroom go forth from his room,
And the bride out of her chamber.

17Let the kohanim, the ministers of ADONAI, weep between the porch and the altar,
And let them say, "Spare your people, ADONAI,
And don't give your heritage to reproach,
That the nations should rule over them.

Why should they say among the peoples,
'Where is their God?'"

18Then ADONAI was jealous for his land,
And had pity on his people.
19ADONAI answered his people,
"Behold, I will send you grain, new wine, and oil,
And you will be satisfied with them;
And I will no more make you a reproach among the nations.

20But I will remove the northern army far away from you,
And will drive it into a barren and desolate land,
Its front into the eastern sea,
And its back into the western sea;
And its stench will come up,
And its bad smell will rise."

Surely He has done great things.

21Land, don't be afraid.
Be glad and rejoice, for ADONAI has done great things.

22Don't be afraid, you animals of the field;
For the pastures of the wilderness spring up,
For the tree bears its fruit.
The fig tree and the vine yield their strength.

23Be glad then, you children of Tziyon,
And rejoice in ADONAI, your God;
For he gives you the former rain in just measure,
And he causes the rain to come down for you,
The former rain and the latter rain,
As before.

24The threshing floors will be full of wheat,
And the vats will overflow with new wine and oil.

25I will restore to you the years that the swarming arbeh has eaten,
The great arbeh, the khagav, and the caterpillar,
My great army, which I sent among you.

26You will have plenty to eat, and be satisfied,
And will praise the name of ADONAI, your God,
Who has dealt wondrously with you;
And my people will never again be disappointed.

27You will know that I am in the midst of Yisra'el,
And that I am ADONAI, your God, and there is no one else;
And my people will never again be disappointed."

Gospel

Lukas 24:1–51

24:1But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they and some others came to the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared. 24:2They found the stone rolled away from the tomb. 24:3They entered in, and didn't find the Lord Yeshua#s body. 24:4It happened, while they were greatly perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling clothing. 24:5Becoming terrified, they bowed their faces down to the earth.

They said to them, "Why do you seek the living among the dead? 24:6He isn't here, but is risen. Remember what he told you when he was still in the Galil, 24:7saying that the Son of Man must be delivered up into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again?"

24:8They remembered his words, 24:9returned from the tomb, and told all these things to the eleven, and to all the rest. 24:10Now they were Miryam from Magdala, Yochanah, and Miryam the mother of Ya`akov. The other women with them told these things to the emissaries. 24:11These words seemed to them to be nonsense, and they didn't believe them. 24:12But Kefa got up and ran to the tomb. Stooping and looking in, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he departed to his home, wondering what had happened.

24:13Behold, two of them were going that very day to a village named Amma'us, which was sixty stadia from Yerushalayim. 24:14They talked with each other about all of these things which had happened. 24:15It happened, while they talked and questioned together, that Yeshua himself came near, and went with them. 24:16But their eyes were kept from recognizing him. 24:17He said to them, "What are you talking about as you walk, and are sad?"

24:18One of them, named Klofah, answered him, "Are you the only stranger in Yerushalayim who doesn't know the things which have happened there in these days?"

24:19He said to them, "What things?"

They said to him, "The things concerning Yeshua, the Natzri, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people; 24:20and how the chief kohanim and our rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him. 24:21But we were hoping that it was he who would redeem Yisra'el. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things happened. 24:22Also, certain women of our company amazed us, having arrived early at the tomb; 24:23and when they didn't find his body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive. 24:24Some of us went to the tomb, and found it just like the women had said, but they didn't see him."

24:25He said to them, "Foolish men, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! 24:26Didn't the Messiah have to suffer these things and to enter into his glory?" 24:27Beginning from Moshe and from all the prophets, he explained to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. 24:28They drew near to the village, where they were going, and he acted like he would go further.

24:29They urged him, saying, "Stay with us, for it is almost evening, and the day is almost over."

He went in to stay with them. 24:30It happened, that when he had sat down at the table with them, he took the bread and gave thanks. Breaking it, he gave to them. 24:31Their eyes were opened, and they recognized him, and he vanished out of their sight. 24:32They said one to another, "Weren't our hearts burning within us, while he spoke to us along the way, and while he opened the Scriptures to us?" 24:33They rose up that very hour, returned to Yerushalayim, and found the eleven gathered together, and those who were with them, 24:34saying, "The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Shim`on!" 24:35They related the things that happened along the way, and how he was recognized by them in the breaking of the bread.

24:36As they said these things, Yeshua himself stood among them, and said to them, "Shalom be to you."

24:37But they were terrified and filled with fear, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.

24:38He said to them, "Why are you troubled? Why do doubts arise in your hearts? 24:39See my hands and my feet, that it is truly me. Touch me and see, for a spirit doesn't have flesh and bones, as you see that I have." 24:40When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. 24:41While they still didn't believe for joy, and wondered, he said to them, "Do you have anything here to eat?"

24:42They gave him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb. 24:43He took them, and ate in front of them. 24:44He said to them, "This is what I told you, while I was still with you, that all things which are written in the law of Moshe, the prophets, and the psalms, concerning me must be fulfilled."

24:45Then he opened their minds, that they might understand the Scriptures. 24:46He said to them, "Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Messiah to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, 24:47and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning at Yerushalayim. 24:48You are witnesses of these things. 24:49Behold, I send forth the promise of my Father on you. But wait in the city of Yerushalayim until you are clothed with power from on high."

24:50He led them out as far as Beit-Anyah, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. 24:51It happened, while he blessed them, that he withdrew from them, and was carried up into heaven. 24:52They worshiped him, and returned to Yerushalayim with great joy, 24:53and were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Romans 9:30-10:13

9:30What shall we say then? That the Goyim, who didn't follow after righteousness, attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith; 31but Yisra'el, following after a law of righteousness, didn't arrive at the law of righteousness. 32Why? Because they didn't seek it by faith, but as it were by works of the law. They stumbled over the stumbling stone; 9:33even as it is written,

"Behold, I lay in Tziyon a stumbling stone and a rock of offense;
And no one who believes in him will be disappointed."

10:1Brothers, my heart's desire and my prayer to God is for Yisra'el, that they may be saved. 2For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3For being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they didn't subject themselves to the righteousness of God. 4For Messiah is the fulfillment of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. 5For Moshe writes about the righteousness of the law, "The one who does them will live by them." 6But the righteousness which is of faith says this, "Don't say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?' (that is, to bring Messiah down); 7or, 'Who will descend into the abyss?' (that is, to bring Messiah up from the dead.)" 8But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth, and in your heart;" that is, the word of faith, which we preach: 9that if you will confess with your mouth ADONAI Yeshua, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes in him will not be disappointed."

12For there is no distinction between Yehudi and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich to all who call on him. 13For, "Whoever will call on the name of ADONAI will be saved."

Messianic Jews 12:14-15

12:14Follow after shalom with all men, and the sanctification without which no man will see ADONAI, 15looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby the many be defiled;

Messianic Jews 13:5-8

13:5Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for He has said, "I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you." 6So that with good courage we say,

"ADONAI is my helper. I will not fear.
What can man do to me?"

7Remember your leaders, men who spoke to you the word of God, and considering the results of their conduct, imitate their faith. 8Yeshua the Messiah is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
