Sikhism

Angad: A disciple of Nanak who became the first in a line of ten successors as the leader of Sikhism. Angad introduced the teaching that Nanak was equal to God.

Granth Sahib: The “Lord’s Book.” The sacred scripture of Sikhism.

Guru Arjan: The compiler of the Granth Sahib, the sacred scripture of Sikhism.

Mardana: The minstrel friend of Nanak who was his sole companion in the early years of the spreading of Sikhism.

Nanak: The 15th century A.D. religious leader who founded Sikhism.

Sat Nam: The “true name.” This is the usual designation for G-d in Sikhism.

Sikh: Literally, “disciple.” The designation for followers of Sikhism.
